Bio
Poleshchuk graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute and joined RSC Energia as a test engineer. His work included repair, assembly, and simulated weightlessness procedures for spaceflight operations.
Selected as a cosmonaut candidate in 1989, he flew Soyuz TM-16 with Gennady Manakov in 1993. The mission tested docking-system hardware connected to the Kristall module and included two .
Poleshchuk completed 179 days in space and nearly 10 hours outside Mir, making his career a strong example of the Energia engineer-cosmonaut path into station operations.
