Bio
Morgan was selected as Christa McAuliffe's backup in the Teacher in Space Project. After Challenger, she continued education work and later joined NASA Astronaut Group 17 as a .
She flew STS-118 in 2007, an International assembly mission that delivered the S5 truss. The flight allowed NASA to complete part of the educational promise originally connected to Teacher in Space.
After NASA, Morgan returned to education and public service, including university work focused on STEM teaching and exploration.
