Charles E. Brady Jr.
Charles Eldon Brady Jr. was an American physician, United States Navy captain, flight surgeon, and NASA astronaut. His single shuttle mission, STS-78, was one of the major long-duration Spacelab life-sciences flights before the ISS era.

Bio
Brady studied pre-med at the University of North Carolina and medicine at Duke University, then trained in family medicine and sports medicine. Before joining NASA he served as a Navy flight surgeon, including work with the Blue Angels flight demonstration squad.
NASA selected Brady in 1992. He flew STS-78 in 1996 as a on the Life and Microgravity Spacelab mission, helping conduct biomedical and microgravity research that informed later station science.
After NASA, Brady returned to Navy medicine and served at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. He retired in 2006 after a long illness and died later that year in Washington.
