Christopher J. Ferguson
Christopher John Ferguson is a retired United States Navy captain, NASA astronaut, shuttle , and commercial spacecraft test pilot. He is best known for commanding STS-135, the final Space Shuttle mission.

Bio
Ferguson studied mechanical engineering at Drexel University and aeronautical engineering at the Naval Postgraduate School. He flew as a Navy pilot and test pilot before NASA selected him in the 1998 astronaut group.
He piloted STS-115 in 2006, then commanded STS-126 in 2008 and STS-135 in 2011. Those missions supported ISS truss assembly, station logistics, and the closeout of shuttle operations.
After NASA, Ferguson joined Boeing's CST-100 Starliner program and was initially assigned to the Crew before stepping aside from the flight. His career therefore bridges the shuttle program's end and the era.
