Ilan Ramon
Ilan Ramon was an Israeli fighter pilot, Israeli Air Force colonel, and the first Israeli astronaut. He flew as a on STS-107 aboard Columbia.

Bio
Born Ilan Wolfferman, Ramon studied electronics and computer engineering at Tel Aviv University after a long operational flying career. His Israeli Air Force service included combat aviation, test and weapons work, and senior pilot assignments.
Ramon joined the STS-107 crew to support Israeli and international science payloads, including the Mediterranean Israeli Dust Experiment. The flight was a dedicated research mission rather than an International assembly flight.
Columbia broke apart during on February 1, 2003, killing Ramon and his six crewmates.
