Bio
Vagner studied engineering at Baltic State Technical University before working for RKK Energia, the spacecraft manufacturer deeply connected to Soyuz and Russian human spaceflight. He was selected as a cosmonaut in 2010 and trained through the period when Russian crews remained central to ISS transport.
His first flight came on Soyuz MS-16 in 2020 after a late crew change placed him on the prime crew with Anatoli Ivanishin and Christopher Cassidy. He served during Expeditions 62 and 63 at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, when launch traditions and family attendance were sharply restricted.
Vagner returned on Soyuz MS-26 in 2024 with Aleksey Ovchinin and Donald Pettit for Expeditions 71 and 72.
