Bio
Rubins studied molecular biology at the University of California, San Diego and earned a doctorate in cancer biology from Stanford University. Before NASA she worked in virology, genomics, and biomedical research.
She launched on Soyuz MS-01 for 48 and 49, where she became the first person to sequence DNA in space. She later launched on Soyuz MS-17 for Expeditions 63 and 64. Rubins' significance is scientific as much as operational: genomics, biology, and station work all belong on the page.
