Bio
Before the spaceflight, Shipenko was already an established Russian filmmaker, with work including Salyut 7 and other feature projects. His background made him part of a different kind of crew profile: a civilian creative professional trained for a short-duration Soyuz and ISS visit rather than a career cosmonaut or government research astronaut.
He launched aboard Soyuz MS-19 with Anton Shkaplerov and Yulia Peresild, spent roughly twelve days on the ISS filming, and returned aboard Soyuz MS-18 with Oleg Novitsky and Peresild. On orbit, he handled multiple production roles, including camera and visual-production tasks in microgravity.
