Lloyd Blaine Hammond Jr. is an American former Air Force officer, test pilot, NASA astronaut, and Gulfstream test pilot. Selected with NASA Astronaut Group 10 in 1984, he flew two shuttle missions as pilot.

Bio
Hammond graduated from the United States Air Force Academy and Georgia Tech, then built an Air Force career in fighter and test-pilot assignments. His technical background brought him into the shuttle pilot corps during the 1980s.
He piloted STS-39 in 1991, an unclassified Department of Defense mission with atmospheric, infrared, and satellite-related experiments. He later piloted STS-64 in 1994, a mission involving LITE lidar observations, SPARTAN operations, and testing of the SAFER rescue system.
After NASA, Hammond continued flight-test work in private aviation, including Gulfstream aircraft testing. His career links military , shuttle operations, and high-performance aircraft development.
