Bio
Nowak graduated from the United States Naval Academy and completed graduate aerospace engineering study before serving as a naval flight officer and test pilot. NASA selected her with Astronaut Group 16 in 1996.
She flew STS-121 in 2006 as a aboard Discovery. The mission tested shuttle inspection and repair techniques and delivered supplies to the International .
After STS-121, Nowak's NASA career ended following a highly public legal incident in 2007;
