Mark Thomas Vande Hei
Mark Thomas Vande Hei is an American retired Army officer and NASA astronaut best known for his long-duration International missions. He held the American single-spaceflight duration record after spending 355 continuous days in orbit on his second station mission.

Bio
Vande Hei studied physics at Saint John's University and applied physics at Stanford, then served as an Army officer and instructor before moving into NASA support work. NASA selected him as an astronaut in 2009.
His first spaceflight launched on Soyuz MS-06 in 2017, supporting 53 and 54. His second launched on Soyuz MS-18 in 2021 and extended across Expeditions 64, 65, and 66 before he returned on Soyuz MS-19 in March 2022.
During his station career, Vande Hei performed , supported research and station maintenance, and became a prominent example of how ISS expedition assignments can stretch far beyond an original six-month plan.
