Naoko Yamazaki
Naoko Yamazaki is a Japanese engineer, JAXA astronaut, and shuttle who flew on STS-131. She became the second Japanese woman to fly in space and contributed to late-shuttle logistics support for the International .

Bio
Yamazaki studied aerospace engineering at the University of Tokyo and worked in Japan's space program before astronaut selection. Her technical background fit the engineering and logistics-heavy work of ISS assembly and resupply missions.
STS-131 launched aboard Discovery in April 2010. The mission delivered supplies and equipment to the International Space Station using the Multi-Purpose Logistics Module Leonardo, and Yamazaki supported robotics and transfer operations.
Her flight came near the end of the Space Shuttle program, when shuttle logistics missions were finishing station outfitting before retirement.
