Bio
Kononenko was born in the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic and trained as an engineer before entering the cosmonaut corps. He was selected in the 1996 ISS cosmonaut group, placing him in the generation that built Russia's long-duration ISS operating experience after Mir.
His flights began with Soyuz TMA-12 and 17 in 2008. He later flew Soyuz TMA-03M, Soyuz TMA-17M, Soyuz MS-11, and the Soyuz MS-24/MS-25 year-long mission with Nikolay Chub, serving as and across several station increments. Expedition numbers explain the station work inside each flight card, while the Soyuz launch and return vehicles define the actual spaceflight count.
