Bio
Duque studied aeronautical engineering at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and worked for GMV and ESA before astronaut selection. He trained in both American and Russian systems, reflecting ESA's dual role in Shuttle and Soyuz/ISS operations.
His first spaceflight was STS-95, where he supervised ESA experimental payloads aboard Discovery. His second was the Cervantes mission, launching on Soyuz TMA-3 to the ISS and returning on Soyuz TMA-2 after several days of research. The ISS visit and Cervantes science program belong inside the Soyuz card.
