Roy D. Bridges Jr.
Roy Dubard Bridges Jr. is an American Air Force officer, test pilot, engineer, former NASA astronaut, and senior NASA center director. Selected by NASA in 1980, he flew STS-51-F and later led major aerospace organizations.

Bio
Bridges graduated from the United States Air Force Academy and flew combat missions in Southeast Asia before becoming a test pilot. His only flown space mission was STS-51-F, the Spacelab 2 mission aboard Challenger.
He was also assigned to STS-61-F, the planned Ulysses solar-polar mission that was canceled after the Challenger accident. His career then moved into senior Air Force leadership and later NASA leadership.
Bridges directed Kennedy Space Center and Langley Research Center, giving him a broader footprint than a single flight suggests.
