Bio
Love studied physics at Harvey Mudd College and astronomy at the University of Washington. Before NASA selected him, he worked in planetary science, including research connected to small bodies and solar-system formation.
NASA selected Love with Astronaut Group 17 in 1998. He flew STS-122 in 2008, the shuttle mission that delivered the European Columbus laboratory module to the International Space Station.
During STS-122, Love performed two EVAs with Rex Walheim. The mission expanded the ISS into a larger international science platform by adding Europe's primary orbital laboratory.
