Bio
Robinson earned mechanical and aeronautical engineering degrees from the University of California, Davis and Stanford University. His technical career included aerodynamics, flight research, and spacecraft operations.
He flew STS-85, STS-95, STS-114, and STS-130. STS-114 made him especially visible because he performed the first in-flight repair to a shuttle thermal-protection tile gap filler during the return-to-flight mission after Columbia.
Robinson later became a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering.
