Bio
Oswald graduated from the United States Naval Academy and became a naval aviator and test pilot. His pre-NASA career gave him the flight-test and operational background NASA used for both pilot and assignments.
He piloted STS-42 and STS-56, then commanded STS-67. His flights covered International Microgravity Laboratory work, ATLAS atmospheric science, and ASTRO-2 ultraviolet astronomy.
