Steven Glenwood MacLean

Bio
MacLean studied physics at York University, earning undergraduate and graduate degrees before selection in Canada's first astronaut group in 1983. His academic background was in laser physics and space science.
He first flew on STS-52 in 1992, helping deploy the Laser Geodynamic Satellite II and operate Canadian and microgravity payloads. He returned on STS-115 in 2006, an ISS assembly mission that installed the P3/P4 truss and solar arrays.
During STS-115, MacLean became the first Canadian to operate Canadarm2 in space and performed a 7-hour, 11-minute with Daniel Burbank. That mission made him both a Canadian robotics milestone figure and the second Canadian spacewalker.
After flight, MacLean served as president of the Canadian Space Agency from 2008 to 2013.
