Bio
Peake trained at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and served in the British Army Air Corps before becoming a test pilot. He later earned a degree from the University of Portsmouth and built the aviation background that supported his selection by the European Space Agency in 2009.
His Principia mission launched aboard Soyuz TMA-19M on December 15, 2015 with Yuri Malenchenko and Timothy Kopra. The Soyuz docking required manual control after a Kurs system issue, and Peake spent roughly six months aboard the ISS conducting research, education outreach, station operations, and public engagement work.
Peake performed one with Timothy Kopra on January 15, 2016. The spacewalk replaced a failed voltage regulator and ended early after water was detected in Kopra's helmet, leaving Peake with 4 hours, 43 minutes of EVA time.
