Follow the electrical path
KSA describes AfDevSat’s power subsystem as generation and distribution boards plus battery management for an eight-cell pack in a 4S2P arrangement. Generation brings in electrical energy, storage carries energy across gaps in supply, and distribution controls delivery to loads. Battery management monitors and protects the storage system. The agency report is a subsystem-development account, not a public set of complete flight operating limits.
In an idealised 4S2P arrangement, four series-connected groups each contain two identical cells in parallel. With fictional cells of 3.6 volts and 2 amp-hours, the nominal pack is 14.4 volts and 4 amp-hours: 57.6 watt-hours. The values are invented for calculation, not AfDevSat specifications. Real usable energy depends on operating limits, condition and losses.

Budget energy across an interval
An invented satellite has a steady 6-watt load during a thirty-minute eclipse. Its load energy is 6 watts times 0.5 hours, or 3 watt-hours. If the delivery path is 80 percent efficient, storage must supply 3 divided by 0.8, or 3.75 watt-hours. Power describes the rate; energy describes the accumulated amount.
Suppose the same exercise allows only 4 watt-hours from storage while preserving the required reserve. The 3.75-watt-hour case fits with 0.25 watt-hours remaining. A payload adding 2 watts throughout the eclipse raises delivered energy to 4 watt-hours and storage demand to 5 watt-hours. That revised schedule exceeds the allowance even though the earlier baseline passed.

Check the instant as well as the total
A daily energy total can pass while an instantaneous power limit fails. Imagine an 8-watt distribution limit, a 5-watt computer and a 4-watt payload operating together. Their combined 9-watt demand exceeds the limit. Shortening the duration reduces energy demand but does not remove the simultaneous power peak.
Teams can evaluate rescheduling, an approved operating mode or a design change against the actual requirements. They must also check startup loads and the consequences of switching something off. The simplified exercises illustrate the questions to ask; they do not provide wiring, charging or operational instructions for a real battery.
