A deliberately limited flight
TV-D1 was an in-flight abort demonstration for Gaganyaan in 2023. ISRO defined the test around the crew escape system, separation, descent and recovery. Its test vehicle was a single-stage liquid-propelled vehicle; it was not the complete human-rated orbital launcher.
The crew-module test article was unpressurized. It represented selected characteristics needed for this experiment, allowing engineers to examine an emergency sequence without sending people into orbit. A simplified article can be valuable precisely because its purpose is specific.

Conditions define the result
An abort system must create separation from a hazardous launcher and connect that escape to a controlled descent. The test record needs to show both the sequence and the conditions in which it occurred. A successful event at one flight condition does not cover every possible altitude, speed or failure.
Imagine a test performed under condition A and a proposed requirement for conditions A, B and C. Passing A reduces uncertainty about A. It does not turn the untested B and C into failures, but it also does not turn them into successes. Their evidence remains to be supplied.
Keep the test boundary visible

Read a test article honestly
A photograph of a capsule shape cannot establish whether the interior is pressurized, contains a full life-support installation or carries a crew. Those details come from configuration and test records. The same caution applies when comparing a development model with a flight vehicle.
The important achievement is the measured operation within the stated scope. Describing TV-D1 as a completed inhabited orbital mission would erase the very distinction that makes engineering tests useful: each closes particular questions while other questions remain open.
