Reach a test environment without staying in orbit
A sounding rocket carries instruments or experiments on a suborbital flight. It can reach conditions useful for atmospheric research or engineering tests without placing its payload into a sustained orbit. The top of its trajectory is its . Reaching a high apogee is one flight result; returning useful measurements and recovering hardware are additional results that need their own evidence.
Taiwan’s historical scientific sounding rocket work included the flight of Sounding Rocket 6 from Jiupeng on September 13, 2007. The photograph here documents that ascent, not the later orbital-launch development vehicle. NIAR’s contemporary account connects the flight with a propulsion experiment from National Cheng Kung University and a recovery-capsule experiment from National Central University, carried by a two-stage vehicle developed by the Chung-Shan institute.

Separate the objectives in a flight report
The September 2007 report describes successful operation of the propulsion experiment and complete transmission of its data. The capsule itself was not recovered. Those statements can all be true for the same mission. Calling the entire flight simply successful or unsuccessful would hide which objectives were demonstrated, which information was incomplete and which hardware was unavailable for inspection.
is information transmitted from the vehicle or experiment to receivers. Receiving telemetry is different from physically recovering the instrument that produced it. A team may learn from transmitted measurements even when hardware recovery fails. Conversely, recovered hardware without the expected data may not answer the scientific question. An honest result preserves these distinctions instead of using the launch photograph as proof of every objective.
TASA’s photograph shows Sounding Rocket 6 of the NSPOB family launching from Jiupeng on September 13, 2007. This is the historical suborbital vehicle, not the later orbital-launch development design. The complete source photograph is retained; the image does not show the subsequent capsule recovery attempt.

Which objective does this image document, and which require other records?
See what to notice
The photograph documents the ascent of this identified vehicle. Instrument results, received telemetry and physical recovery require the flight report and experiment records.

Build experience through bounded experiments
TASA’s later university sounding rocket program supports student development and more advanced experimental platforms. Educational teams can practice systems work while research payloads gain access to flight conditions. The training value includes defining a question, preparing a test, collecting measurements and explaining unexpected behavior. Such experience supports broader space engineering without automatically establishing the ability to deliver satellites to orbit.
Consider a fictional flight with three objectives: reach the planned test altitude, transmit two instrument channels and recover the payload. The altitude is reached, one channel is missing and recovery fails. A useful report records one achieved flight objective, incomplete data return and unsuccessful recovery, then identifies what each finding permits the team to conclude. It does not erase the usable data or claim that every requirement was met. That is the habit this historical example teaches.
