Different arrivals, one station
Wentian and Mengtian added laboratory capability around Tianhe in 2022. Mengtian initially docked at a forward port and was subsequently moved to a side port in November. The assembled T-shaped configuration depended on that sequence, not merely on placing several modules in nearby orbits.

Movement changes the combined system
Relocating a module changes geometry, clearances and the location of external equipment. In a fictional assembly rehearsal, a planned move leaves a visiting vehicle’s approach blocked. The team should change the sequence or configuration before proceeding. Connections must be evaluated in the arrangement that will actually be used.

What evidence would show that a laboratory was ready for use?
See what to notice
Configuration and commissioning records establish readiness beyond the crew’s departure photograph.

Attached does not mean commissioned
The Shenzhou 14 crew worked during this construction period. Once hardware is connected, crews and controllers still need to verify services and usability. Commissioning turns a newly attached module into a checked workplace; it is not simply a ceremony announcing that the latches have closed.
