Three different backgrounds
Voskhod 1 launched in October 1964 with commander Vladimir Komarov, spacecraft engineer Konstantin Feoktistov and physician Boris Yegorov. Including engineering and medical specialists broadened the kinds of professional experience carried into orbit.
Expertise does not abolish resource limits. Every occupant still needs space, environmental support and a workable role. A crew list tells you who was present; a task plan explains why their different skills were useful.

Working in the same volume
A small cabin makes work interdependent. One person’s movement can obstruct another’s controls or observations. If tasks are poorly scheduled, adding an expert may add interference as well as capability. Shared checklists and communications help the crew coordinate.
Consider a fictional observation requiring a physician to take a measurement while the commander checks an instrument. The team must arrange access and timing, then record what was measured. Credentials alone do not guarantee an interpretable result.
Konstantin Feoktistov, the spacecraft engineer who flew on Voskhod 1. This portrait identifies a participant; it is not an image of the cabin’s in-flight work. The display image is resized and compressed.
Look closely
Why include an engineer’s portrait in the crew story?
See what to notice
It helps identify the person whose design expertise accompanied the commander and physician, while the task record explains what each did.

What a short flight establishes
Voskhod 1 demonstrated multi-person orbital flight and a return with the occupants inside the capsule. It was a short mission, not a demonstration of months of shared living or sustained station research.
Ask what evidence would be needed to extend that claim: supplies, maintenance, sleep schedules and repeated measurements over longer intervals. Distinguishing an initial demonstration from sustained operations helps connect this course to Salyut and Mir.
