The European Retrievable Carrier was an ESA free-flying platform carrying 15 microgravity, solar, materials, and space-science experiments. Atlantis deployed it on STS-46 in 1992; Endeavour retrieved it on STS-57 in 1993 after an crew manually folded two antennas that would not stow by command.
