The spacecraft has a second journey
Shenzhou’s role includes taking people to orbital destinations and returning them to Earth. A later station flight is part of a transportation system, not merely another launch. Keeping the return vehicle ready matters while the crew conducts research elsewhere aboard the station.

Braking, entry and descent are different
A return sequence changes the spacecraft’s orbit, separates modules and brings the protected capsule through the atmosphere. Parachute descent occurs after the high-speed entry phase. Search and recovery teams then locate the capsule and assist its occupants. These phases solve different problems and cannot substitute for one another.

Plan for people after touchdown
In a fictional landing exercise, the capsule reaches the planned area but the recovery team cannot communicate with it. Touchdown has occurred; recovery still needs attention. After a long stay in orbit, medical support, physical assistance and transport are part of bringing the crew home. Evaluate the operation through handover to the ground team.
